Our Story
On August 20th, 2022, Ashley and Chris met at the Elm Draught House Cinema during the Cruel Summer Film Festival.
On August 29th, 2022, they had their first date at the Chatta Box in Bridgewater, MA. It was as perfect of an evening as it could have been. They laughed together, related to each other, and found they had a lot more in common than expected. For one, they discovered that they both have a background in Lincoln, RI, studied film, had fathers in the printing business, a love for vinyl records, family in New Jersey, and much, much more.
In the year that they've been together, Ashley and Chris had a lot of adventures from going to Foxwoods to the Boston Aquarium, Los Angeles, London, and everything in between.
On December 9th, 2023, Chris proposed to Ashley at the place where it began: the Elm Draught House Cinema. He took her back to the theater under the assumption that was going to be a film premiere of a project a friend made. Chris told her that they had to go early because he had to “test the disc” before everyone showed up. To complete the illusion, Chris filmed his friend in a scene as if it came from a film. He then had the disc skip as if it was glitching. Suddenly, Jackie Wilson’s, “Higher and Higher” plays. As the opening beats started, the words, “Ashley, will you marry me?” wrote itself on screen. Following that, he included a voiceover with pictures and videos of them from the past year, expressing his feelings and why he chose her to be his wife.
Ashley tearfully said, yes. They embraced at that moment as a hidden photographer and videographer appeared to capture the moment. She was surprised beyond belief.
They are thrilled to call each other husband and wife come November 17th, 2024.
